Edmonton Invisalign / Clear Braces

Invisalign is a well-established smile alignment technology designed to give you the dazzling smile you’ve always wanted, without the discomfort and stress associated with traditional metal braces. These aligners are invisible, comfortable, and removable.

Innovative Dental Solutions with Invisalign Clear Aligners

The Invisalign treatment is designed to straighten your teeth while fitting in with your unique and busy lifestyle. Unlike braces, our aligners have no metal bands or wires to cause irritation in your mouth. Instead, you wear a set of discreet and clear aligners for about two weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush and floss. As you replace each set of aligners with the next in the series, your teeth begin to gradually shift according to the position the overseeing dentist has determined for you. Most people won’t even know you’re straightening your teeth unless you tell them! Read More

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I take care of my Invisalign aligners?

It is essential to make sure that you take off your aligners before every meal and brush your teeth before putting them back on. Not doing so may stain or damage your Invisalign aligner. We recommend brushing your aligner with a soft-bristled toothbrush and a non-abrasive toothpaste and rinsing them under lukewarm water; please note that using hot water may permanently damage the material.

Please ask our Edmonton general dentist if you have any concerns regarding the cleaning of your Invisalign aligners.

Will Invisalign treatment provide results if I only wear them to sleep?

You must wear your Invisalign clear aligner for 20-22 hours a day to get your desired results. If you do not wear them for the required amount of time, you will not see the desired effect and improvements.

How often will I need to have appointments with my dentist?

Dr. Nina Valiushka, our General Dentist who also specializes in Invisalign, will schedule regular orthodontic appointments once every 4 - 6 weeks. The goal of these regular visits is to ensure that your Invisalign dental treatment is progressing as planned, so be sure to be diligent and disciplined in wearing your aligner during this period.

Will I need to wear a retainer after treatment to prevent my teeth from moving again?

Most Edmonton dentists recommend that once almost any dental or orthodontic treatment is completed, whether that is traditional braces work or Invisalign treatment, that an apparatus be worn long-term to prevent your teeth from shifting positions. But this will vary, depending on the patient’s dental history and current situation.

How is Invisalign treatment different from other teeth straightening options?

Many factors set Invisalign invisible aligners apart from other clear aligners and teeth straightening options. First and foremost, Invisalign is made from a material called SmartTrack® that is designed to gently apply constant pressure to your teeth and guide them into their proper position. Invisalign also allows more movement control and straightens your teeth with more reliability and predictability.

In addition, parents of teens or children and even adults will be helped by the blue compliance indicator dot at the back of their clear aligners, which helps remind them to switch their aligner tray. This dot cannot be seen when the aligners are worn and will disappear when the aligners have been worn over a two-week period.

Does dental insurance pay for invisible braces?

That depends on whether orthodontic coverage is included and what age group or other parameters your insurance company sets. After your consultation, we are happy to send a complimentary benefits preauthorization to your insurance company to check your eligibility for clear aligner therapy.

How long do invisible aligners such as Invisalign take?

The total length of your treatment time varies with how much teeth movement is needed and with how consistently you wear them. Each aligner moves teeth about 0.25mm and must be worn for 20 hours per day for 2 weeks. Then, you simply switch to the next aligner set and continue to do so every 2 weeks until your treatment is complete. If the teeth do not “track” or move with the aligners, then refinement trays can be made.

Will invisible braces work to fix my smile?

Invisible braces work the best for patients who have mild dental crowding, spacing, and other types of alignment concerns. Depending on the target problem, Invisalign may work for you; however, patients must be diligent with their treatment and follow all instructions.
